Revising and ruining reputations

So I’ve been revising. Is anyone else?

For me this usually means eating a lot of red vines and talking to myself, but this time it involves listening to El Borracho by Fenix Tx on repeat with the hopes of  capturing my ‘perfect’ male character’s inner scum bag and ruining his on-paper reputation of being so very perfect.  And talking to myself.

What are your revision ticks? I can’t be the only one listening to pop-punk from 2001…

  1. I can't listen to anything when I do writing work. I talk to myself, though. I pace and shake my fists. I've had some characters who like to make life difficult for me!

  2. Sleep deprivation. I can hyper-focus when I'm deadbeat exhausted.

  3. I usually forget to eat when I revising...

I can't listen to music when I'm revising, but I can when I'm writing...

  4. ME TOO! Not pop punk, but revising :) My ticks right now are talking to myself and cooking, because my characters cook and somehow it inspires me. But revising is driving me crazy in a big way. I feel ya.

  5. I'm like Kelley...I forget to eat. I drink a lot of water, wring my hands a lot, go for drives and listen to Florence and the Machines. I don't know what it is about them but they get the writing going.
Happy revising to you. Or not. It's a painful thing.

  6. I'm always revising! And when I do, I listen to a lot of Alt/metal/hard rock like Three days Grace, Art of Dying, Seether, & Staind. Kind of a downer, but it helps a great deal.

    Happy holidays, Alexis!
